OBLITERATE My Student Loans, Inc. was born from a passionate prayer that God would help our founder, a social worker whose father had been a sharecropper, out of student loan debt and that He would help her to help others get out of their student loan debt as well. Just destroy it, Lord. OBLITERATE it, please!

In May 2019, Sandra – our founder – and her family were driving from St. Louis, MO to Colorado Springs, CO to vacation. They were sharing their prayers, hopes and dreams for the future with one another. Sandra shared her years-long passion – this prayer – to OBLITERATE crippling student loan debt from college graduates. The desire had been on her heart for years. The task: daunting. By this time, Sandra’s student loan debt was manageable. Her husband’s debt had been managed. But their children were graduating with doctorate degrees and mind-blowing six-figure student loan debt. Her sister, who had asked about the hopes and dreams, had children graduating with professional degrees and lots of student loan debt. Many others were in similar situations.  College education had become much more expensive, and many parents were ill-prepared to help their bright-minded children pay for it. Students, therefore, used the resources that were offered to them in their financial aid packages to get the college education that everyone saw as paramount to their successes. They used student loans.

Sandra believed that there were others who wanted to OBLITERATE student loan debt as much as she did. During this conversation the family shared how unreasonable it seemed that if they helped their children pay their debts, they couldn’t take the tax deductions. She wanted to organize a charitable organization through which those who wanted to help could help and receive tax deduction benefits for their efforts. When the family finished sharing, they prayed.  “We trust You to do it, God.”

The fact that the trip was in May 2019 was significant because the very next morning, they awoke to the international news story of billionaire, Robert F. Smith, having pledged to pay off the student loans of the 2019 Morehouse College graduating class! AWESOME!!!

Sandra loved the story so much! Yes, Lord! OBLITERATE them! The family had more discussions on the topic during the vacation. The family prayed for Dr. Smith and continued to desire to exponentially expand upon his gesture. After all that was one class of approximately 400 students in one school. There are graduates around the country who are paying for loans that were taken out over twenty years prior. “Use me, Lord, to OBLITERATE them.” But our founder wasn’t a billionaire, a millionaire – or even a “hundred-thousandaire.” She was just a faith-filled family woman and clinical social worker who didn’t know where to begin.

The family experienced great losses in 2019 and 2020 as did the rest of the world.

At the very beginning of 2022, Sandra found herself hospitalized for nearly a week with that devastating virus. While considering the vapor that life is she decided that she didn’t want to leave this earth without having made a major difference around student loans for American college graduates. While recovering in the hospital, she began researching the steps to organize a charitable organization and recruiting individuals to serve on the board of directors and in March of 2022 OBLITERATE My Student Loans, Inc. was in business.

We developed a process for accepting donations and requests for student loans to be paid off. We began fundraising and testing the system by paying off our first student loan in August 2023.

Dear Dr. XXXXXXX:

On behalf of the Board of Directors of OBLITERATE My Student Loans, Inc. I am pleased to inform you that we will OBLITERATE your student loan account ending in XXXX in the amount of $6,288.13 saving you $222.31 in monthly payments.

***

You are more than welcome to apply again next year for additional assistance.

Thank you for your commitment to donate at least $22.23 [10% of the amount that you saved in monthly payments.] to us monthly so that we can continue the work in Obliterating Student Loans.

We hope this helps to lighten your load.

We’re in the primary stage of our business. Phase 1 is simple. We keep it simple because it is only being done by our volunteer Board of Directors.

  1. We fundraise – crowdfunding through checks and PayPal is best! (costs less)
  2. We collect student loan billing statements from college graduates.
  3. We pay off as many student loan balances as our coffers will allow.

Phase 2 will add consultation and seminars to assist families in strategically planning their use of student loans to avoid excessive borrowing. Stay tuned.

Phase 3 will add additional financial resources to help our members close documented wealth gaps and build generational wealth.

We are non-political. We aren’t waiting for politicians to do anything about this issue. Our challenge to you – if you think this is a great idea – is to start by donating. Join our Student Loan Obliteration Corps. And then encourage others to do the same. We will have this thing under control sooner than you can imagine.

Thank you for reading and for joining our efforts.

Our Vision

OUR VISION is to be the main conduit in America between education-focused philanthropists and the college graduates who are still paying for their educations.

Our Mission

OUR MISSION is to obliterate excessive student loan debt in America by tax-deductible fundraising that pays off debts directly to lenders on behalf of college graduates and by providing preventative consultation and workshops to help students and families strategically manage the use of student loans when financing their educations.
